Starting Nursery

When can my child get a place at the Nursery ?

*The new term after the 3rd birthday.

 

How do I apply for a place at the Nursery?

Please visit the School Office and request an Application form that needs to be completed and handed in. You will need to bring the child’s *Birth Certificate or Passport and the Council Tax document for your *home address.

What happens once my child is selected ?

The teachers from Nursery will send you a letter for a Home Visit to be carried out. This is so they get to know the child and the family, time for any questions you may have and more importantly, so the child is familiar with them for when they start.

 

What should my child wear to Nursery/School ?

Uniform is bought from an Online shop at www.stitchdesign.co.uk

GIRLS: Grey skirt/pinafore dress/trousers

White blouse/shirt

Maroon sweater/cardigan/sweat shirt; School tie; White socks

Plain black flat shoes (not trainers)

Plain Hijab – maroon, white or black

SUMMER

Maroon/white gingham dress

BOYS: Grey trousers

White shirt

Maroon sweater/sweat shirt

School tie

Grey socks

Black flat shoes (not trainers)

Plain Turban, hijab or Patka: maroon, white or black ONLY with no patterns or other decorations.

White short sleeved shirt

      

Label all of your child’s clothing and belongings - Please remember to write your child’s name (and class if possible). If we find any lost clothing, bags or other items, we can easily identify and return the items to you or the children. We have so much lost clothing and other lost belongings in the school without any names which all end up in the lost property boxes at the front of the school.

 

PE KIT (pupils can wear PE kit to school on their PE days)

  • white t-shirt or polo shirt
  • plain black bottoms (shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms)
  • school jumper or plain black jumper
  • trainers
  • no big logos or different colours on the black jumpers or tracksuit bottoms for PE kit

     

    What if my child prefers Packed Lunch ?

    Please ensure your child has a healthy packed lunch, adhering to our communication [add link to this info]. They should hand their Packed Lunch to their teacher at Nursery or place on the Class Trolleys, for *Reception upwards. The Lunches/trolleys are taken to the Lunch Hall at Lunchtime.

    What if I prefer my child to have hot school meals? What’s the process at this school ?

    Initially, your child will be set up by the School Office and a password will be provided for you access the ParentPay system [add link to this info] that all lunches are selected and paid through. Pls ensure this is done before your child starts to avoid delay on their lunch. Any help can be given on navigating through this system.

    For info, Nursery lunches are paid for per child in ParentPay.

    Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have free school lunches and are charged at 0 in ParentPay.

    Year 3 through to including Year 6 are again paid for in ParentPay.

    What if I have a question/s or query/ies for the School ?

    Please come through to the School Office main doors and form an orderly queue to the *right/left side. Once the doors open at 9am and the Late children have been allowed through, our staff will come and attend to your queries in the queue and assist or direct you to the staff of expertise.

    tart/End of Day timings & procedures from Monday 23rd May 2022

     

    Start of day: School starts at 9:00. Gates open at 8:45am. All pupils must be in school and seated in their classrooms BEFORE 9:00. Any pupils arriving at the school gates at 9:00 or after, will need to sign in and be marked in as ‘late’ at the school office. 

     

    ENTRY: 

    - ALL pupils/parents enter via the main gates (Western Road) then walk through the Reception playground gate by the side of the Nursery. 

    - Y5 and Y6 walk to and enter their classrooms via the KS2 playground fire escape. All other pupils enter via their external classroom door.

     

    ALL pupils must be seated in their classrooms BEFORE 9:00.

     

    EXIT: Parents/carers exit via the Nursery playground.

     

    End of day: School finishes at 3:30pm. Gates open at 3:15pm. After 3:30pm, pupils will be taken to and can be collected as ‘late’ from the school office. Pupils must be collected by 3:30pm at the very latest.

    (Nursery ends at the usual time of 3:45pm)

     

    ENTRY: 

    - ALL Nursery, Reception and Y1-Y5 parents/carers enter via the main gates (Western Rd) then walk through the Reception playground gate by the side of the Nursery.

    - Year 6 parents can collect Y6 pupils from in front of the school office.

     

    EXIT: Parents/carers exit via the Nursery playground.

     

    Nursery - Year 4 can be collected from classrooms.

    Year 5 can be collected from adjacent to KS2 play equipment (next to Year 4 classrooms)

    Year 6 can be dismissed from or collected from in front of the school office.

     

     

    Who can collect my child other than myself?

    Up to *4/5 family/trust members can drop/collect your child to/from the school. All names MUST be added to a form that the *teachers will hand out at the start of the Class Year as it’s very important for each Teacher to meet all named members on your list. Our School takes Safeguarding and Security very seriously and will not allow a child to collected by someone not named on the form you’ve completed.

     

    What’s the process for After School Clubs ?

    New Clubs are communicated at the start of * September, January and April terms via a letter and email.

    These are also available to select and pay via the ParentPay system. *You should select an £19 and £2 class. There are limited places per Club so once all spaces have been taken, that Club will stop being visible in Parentpay.

    You should also complete a form for each Club you’ve selected and paid for with the *matching reference details from Parentpay and hand into the Class teacher or School office.

    The paper and email schedule shows all the days each Club is active and days * (in red font) it’s not, which could be due to Bank Holidays or Inset days.

    Clubs finish at 4:30 and ALL children should be collected from outside the MAIN School office.

    What if my child’s class is performing in an Assembly – can I/we come to watch ?

    Our Newsletters/Website will list the current and upcoming terms Class Assemblies. You are more than welcome to attend the *Morning or Afternoon Assembly times listed to watch your child perform.

    Once all children have been dropped to their Morning queues, please form an orderly queue outside the Hall gates – the tall single gate before the school office on the RIGHT.

    The teachers will allow access when they are set up and ready to allow parents to enter and be seated.

    For those with small children, pls park pushchairs outside the Nursery building and take seats on the ends or further back, allowing you to leave freely if you and the child requires and to avoid too much distraction to the Assembly.
