Governing Board Priorities
2023 -2024
Priority One: Attendance
- Support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in developing and fostering a sense of whole school Collective responsibility.
- Support and monitor SLT Home visits to assess effectiveness and reduction in absences.
- Seek feedback from Attendance officer/Phase Leader/HT regarding Parent meetings, Attendance contracts and SEN/Vulnerable weekly monitoring and welfare checks.
Priority Two: Safeguarding & Wellbeing/Welfare
- Ensure there are strategies and interventions in place to promote the safety, wellbeing, overall welfare of our pupils (i.e. policies and regular monitoring of implementation of policies).
- Ensure that resources are targeted toward SEN/vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils, ensuring we promote an inclusive culture.
- Support School Leaders in endeavours to promote personal development of pupils, including review and monitoring of Zones of Regulation (ZOR). The use and effectiveness of the ZOR’s.
Priority Three: Oracy, Quality Teaching and Learning
- Support the implementation of an Oracy rich curriculum and environment, by carrying out monitoring visits, assess planning and teaching strategies.
- Ensure that disadvantaged pupils** make good progress and achieve positive outcomes across all subjects through inclusive planning and teaching.
- Ensure that all teachers have access to high quality and relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure we offer high quality teaching to our pupils and maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
- Ensure the new Teaching and Learning Policy is embedded and all teaching staff have received effective training to implement.
- Ensure that standards achieved by pupils are regularly monitored (attainment) in accordance with achievements over a period of time (their progress). This is monitored via regular internal and external assessment and tracking data, across all subjects through inclusive planning and teaching.
Priority Four: Finance
- Monitor and scrutinise the budget, updates 6 times per year from the School Business Manager in relation to forecast income and spending.
- Identify and select or recommend financial steps most likely to achieve the School Development Priorities (SDP).
- Monitor the effectiveness of financial procedures and controls.
- Monitor and scrutinise budget allocation and spend for disadvantaged pupils to ensure budget promotes the removal of barriers to learning.

Maintain & Monitor
- Ensure that disadvantaged pupils** make good progress and achieve positive outcomes across all subjects through inclusive planning and teaching strategies (JS)
- 2017 Ofsted Objectives*
- The proportion of pupils achieving the standards in science is in line with the national figures at key stages 1 and 2 (TA/MK)
- Accelerate pupils’ progress in writing by ensuring that they improve their skills by writing at length in English and across other subjects (SK)
- Develop the assessment systems for tracking the progress of pupils in the foundation subjects such that they are as good as in other subjects (GC)
- The most able pupils are given challenging tasks earlier on in the lesson, rather than sometimes having to wait (– accelerating the progress of all pupils, especially higher attainers) (DL)
